Bill

One thing Hank said in this video is very true to many of us he said
"I don't know what life would have been like without a guitar"

I can echo that ever since I saw one I wanted one and once I learnt
to play one that was it completely hooked

Forgive my ignorance, but who is JJ?

JJ (or stageleft on this site) is John James, a key member of the support team at Cliff/Shads gigs :)

Hanks collection is past 50 guitars for a wail now.
Don't think, they are all at his apartment.
I know how many guitars are as a rule of thump at his place, but I don't see why such private things is of use to know.

The 2004 Marvin he gave to JJ was his second guitar he used on the tour the nr1 got back to Burns.
Bruce sold his old Marvin, because he use his 2004 still, on the last Shadowmania vids you can easily see BW on the upper horn plate.
Bruce old Marvin can be identified on pics, because of the extra hole in the tremplate (made by John Farrar to instal a strat trem arm for a short time).

Rob.
Didn't Hank have a Marvin stolen at a gig and never found again?
I believe that people like to know such things because a players instruments, tools of the trade, so to speak,
are of interest to a guitar aficionado and a Hank Marvin fan. Why else?

Picture no. 16 shows guitars dated 1986

An article with an interesting rundown showing some of Hanks guitars.
Forty is quite a number to store, unless, Hank has a large house or an outbuilding with A/C, like a dehumidifier
for guitars. Perhaps these, or some of them, are housed in his Perth Studio. Who knows.
Cheers.

Think Hank lives in an apartment in Perth now, no need for a big house as the kids have all grown up and moved out - maybe one of the rooms is a music room with all of them on the walls or on stands but i suspect a lot will be stored at his Nivram studio.

Hi Simon,

I can only advice you to take some time, to do a site search about some subjects your interested in, lots of answers are easy to find in minutes because most of them are written about till death.
The stolen Marvin vanished from the van and was seen some time later ,by some member here, the bloke who had it for sale didn't care.
Management of the shads were contacted about the stolen guitar, no interest at all, because Hank played Fender again.

The picture you wrote about was taken in Hanks garden in England '85 /'86 ish.
So a lot has changed, the 2 tone "Tony Hicks" strat was sold a few years ago.

Hanks collection past 50 guitars a long time ago,
95% of his guitars stayed in the studio and by friends who babysit the guitars.

When Hank regularly toured the UK some guitars and echo and amps stayed there as house guest by several friends.

Cheers Rob

Hello Rob and many thanks for your interesting response.
So the stolen Burns actually resulted in The Shadows returning to Fender?
Thanks again, Rob.
Cheers

That was much easier than I though a Google search would be when it came to discovering a little more about Hanks
Nivram Studio - a facility Nivram apparently shares with Trevor Spencers Sh-boom studio.
Just Google "Nivram Studio - Perth" and all will be revealed.
Thanks Rob for your suggestion.
Cheers
Simon.
