JET IS THRILLED TO BITS!

Postby audreyk » 11 Jan 2010, 00:02

Hi Everyone,

Jet has asked me to say "Thank you so much" to everyone for your very kind comments about him receiving the MBE. It means so much to Jet that people are genuinely pleased on his behalf.

Jet also wants to share with everyone a message that he has just received from the great Duane Eddy. Here is part of what Duane wrote to Jet today:

"Dear Jet,

Duane here ... I am writing to congratulate you on your MBE. What a great honor! What took them so freakin' long?!

I've seen bits of your shows on Youtube and was knocked out that you do my 'Theme for Something Really Important'. And you're right, I don't do any of your tunes ... but after hearing 'Diamonds' again this morning, I'm thinking that ... I still won't do any of your songs! Too many notes for me. Seriously, I may have to work out an arrangement of 'Diamonds' just to get back at you!

Again, congratulations and my very best to you.

Your friend,

Duane"

Jet says he is "thrilled to bits" that he has received this message from Duane and he is also very touched to read everyone's good wishes on this site.

Thank you!

Best wishes
Audrey

Does that mean Jet has to stop calling Duane rude names?

Seriously, that is a wonderful thing to read. Good on Duane, and, Audrey, please pass on my best wishes to Jet, it's a long time since I saw him. I don't know if he remembers me by name, but he, Janet and I chatted at the last Shadowmania and also spoke at the last gig he did in Weymouth with Billie and the Rapiers (I helped them pack after the gig).

We love ya, Jet.

It's great to see Duane writing to jet with his congratulations on the MBE and that Duane is thinking of doing his own version of Diamonds. just a thought how about Jet and Duane together on a single or even better a whole album, two legends together!
All the best

Perhaps now, instead of yet another bl**dy film about John Lennon, someone might make a film about Jet - whose life has, I'm sure, been equally colourful...

Again, congrats to Jet on his much overdue honour.

Thanks Audrey, This is very High Praise indeed!! Duane was/is a master of the 'Deep' sound and I loved his music as well, often playing his versions of Shazam, Dance with the Guitar Man and others way back in the 60s. What an honour to do this for Jet! I hope he comes up with a great version of Diamonds, it would be the ultimate tribute from one Legend to another.
Jet, you once said, 'I don't understand all this 'Super Star stuff' ' Well, we do, and all of this is proof! You've always been one to us and you deserve what's been given you by Duane!!
We love you Jet!!

Cheers Charles
