Hi All, Mark had had a yellow Sue Ryder on show at Newcastle two years ago. It is very much a strat but with the the R cut through the scratch plate.
I did get chance to have a little twang on it and it certainly never disgraced itself (I probably did) at that time they were just being launched and the price was £125, not bad for a guitar of that quality. Mark was kind enough to autograph my cheapo strat copy and said he had just reduced the value of it. Am I the only one with a guitar signed by Mark Griffiths?
Eddie.

This thread intrigued me enough to buy one of these guitars (the white Tele) just out of curiosity. I had read quiet a few reviews, all of them good, and £59.99 didn't seem too much dosh to risk. I ordered it last Thursday evening and it arrived this morning.

I'm sitting writing this, almost in a state of shock.

Straight out of the box, the guitar looked great and after a quick tune up I found the intonation to be spot on and it felt as if the guitar had just been given a pro set-up. The action is low, with no fret buzz and the maple neck is a dream. From a playability point of view, it holds its own against any of my other guitars, which include a Masterbuilt Custom Shop Strat, a Burns Apache and a 1970 Gibson ES335.

Though the sound could maybe be improved by installing a set of Telecaster pickups, it's still very good indeed. All in all, it is the most incredible value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I've decided the basic guitar is so good, it's worth spending a bit more and installing Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Telecaster PUs. A bit further down the line, either a Tele Bigsby or Stetsbar tremelo.

I was looking for aTelecaster type guitar to convert into a "Gretschcaster". I saw a Sue Ryder Telecaster in our local shop and went in and tried it, as they didn't have an amp it was impossible to test the electrics but that wasn't a problem as I intended to change them. The body of the guitar is made of real wood, (not ply), and is about 4mm thinner than a USA Fender but apart from needing a good set-up and a fret polish the guitar was just what I was looking for, it cost me £59. I've since fitted a couple of Filtertrons, a Bigsby, replaced the pots and set the guitar up, I think that the guitar has worked out really well. I should mention that I did play the guitar through an amp proir to changing the electrics. I'd say that the ceramic magnet pickups are about the same quality as the lower priced Wilkinson Telecaster pickups, so if I was going to keep the guitar as a single coil instrument I would have certainly have replaced them.

White 'Tele' now gone from the website... Only a Goldtop and two Strat-style guitars left!

I have now played mine for two separate club meets (Warwick and Watford) and the first half of a paid gig. It holds its own, people tell me it sounds OK and I have wondered whether to modify it. My decision is no, because anything I spend on it will be way out of proportion to its price. I don't think I will gig it a lot but I am very pleased to have snapped up what I reckon is a bargain, just as it is.
