I ordered 3 cd's and 2 lp's before I heard a single note from this new album.
Imho I "owe" Hank so much for changing my life all those decades ago, he got me playing ( and with me thousand of others) and that changed my live and give me such pleasure...
On top of that he's a diamond geezer and all those times I met him....he's a joy to talk with.....although it's a great nightmare with rising damp in the armpits, to try to play a guitar when he's watching.... ;)
So I will buy every new album of Hank to support him, and at the same time giving me pleasure to listen too.
Yes not every single recording on all those albums are my favorites but that was the same on the shads albums....

The VOX AC30 Hank uses at his studio is (if I'm not mistaken) a "CBS" one... 6 vents, diode bridge(no gz34), grey speakers, and about a little more then 40 Watts(instead of the standard 33) because it runs a little hotter..... and has more headroom. I've one of those they stay longer clean....

I will buy this album too, as I have done with all of Hank's albums. Great to see the album being released on LP as well, which I will also buy. The last album that was released on LP was the "Into The Light" album, back in 1992. The sound on the LP issue of this album was actually quite compressed, probably because of the length, which was over 65 minutes.

Wonder if this fashion for vinyl will last very long? I guess our generation was glad to get rid of the pops and clicks which always seemed to be where the music was quiet or at the 'best bits'! Modern CD length albums will always need compressing won't they, so the supposed sound benefit will be lost unless some tracks are left off. I love my old vinyl but now - CD's forever for me!

People forget the problems we had with vinyl. You had to handle them carefully and also carful with the stylus. In the last few years before they went out of fashion a lot of them were faulty with jumping grooves in places and if you took it back to the record store there were often problems with the dealer who would automatically say, ''It must be your player'' which caused arguements. I didn't like cassettes that replaced vinyl but CDs are ideal.

The funny thing is:

A) If you go into a 'record shop' like Fopp! it really is a record shop now, as there is as much vinyl in there as CDs! It's like going back in time to about the time Hank released 'Into the Light'.

B) Some bands are actually starting to release stuff on CASSETTE again!!!

So I guess everything comes back around sooner or later!

I would welcome the easy availability of new cassette tapes and player/recorders again..

IMHO, cassette recorders were the easiest and most convenient means of 'informal' recording ever...you could be ready to record in a matter of seconds and had a hard copy instantly available as soon as recording was completed...and using a double cassette deck, you could make a copy in the time it took to replay the recording..

...as we all did back in the '70s and '80s! Good times!
