Dunno WHO owns the copyrite to that Sunhouse DVD but both Adventure and Nokie should be selling it since Rarity Records is "gone" but they are not selling it. It's a great DVD. Neither The Ventures nor Nokie have the personalities of Clif & Shads but for them, it's all about the playing, like it or don't.

We have a couple things posted of Nokie playing w/us from 2008: http://www.myspace.com/gwg.
Miss Judy and Quando Quando.

Where can I go to hear some of your stuff?

Walt - I'm afraid my playing days in a group are long past!

Several years ago, the day after I picked up my restored Burns Marvin guitar I played with several members on this site at The Three Counties Shads get together in Malvern (the picture attached to my name is actually from that session!). Before that I played for charity with a work colleague in the mid 90's. He played rhythm and had a footpedal that triggered a drum machine and bass synth. Really quite mechanical and nothing like playing with a full group line up. My experience at Malvern gave me a real buzz after a 35 year lay off!

My very early days are shown here : http://oldwildmen.smugmug.com/keyword/d ... 8858_gbJvf

Those were the days of silent movies!

The only recordings I have of the 90s were taken on a video elevated on a gantry at the back of an aircraft hanger in Bristol (BAes facility) when we played for Children in Need. The recorded sound quality isn't very good and so I wouldn't want to share that with anybody - it was recorded as a souvenir of the event!

Anyway as I say in details - I use to get paid to stop!

If you like the Ventures, you should get the DVD recorded in 2004 at Tokyo for the 45th anniversary of the band, with Don Wilson, Bob Bogle, Leon Taylor and Nokie Edwards.
It not easy to find, I bought mine online from Japan, but it worth it. It's the best recording I know from the Ventures.

Thanks, D....I have that one too. It's good but I like some of the stuff from the 90's too.

There's also a good one from 1984 recorded live at Doc Severensons club..clips here:

Nokie was "on fire" that nite. Only missing member is Bob Bogle.

You can probably find it on ebay and it was PAL format by the way.
My DVD case title says: Most Famous Hits: The Ventures Music on DVD.

Total of 28 trax.

Have just been to YouTube and viewed a Ventures medley from 1993. Bob and Don on Jazzmasters with Gerry playing bass on a Jazz - very good.
Check it out.

And now you can buy Jazzmasters for 900USD!
They're pretty good value for the price considering where they're made.
Nothing sounds like a JM, just like nothing sounds like HM. ;)
If you guys have seen the Ventures playing at the RRHF, that's what Bob Spaulding is playing for Walk Don't Run.

Didier,

As you say the DVD recorded in 2004 at Tokyo for the 45th anniversary of the band, is a superb recording with Nokie in excellent form. This was the very last item I was able to source from the late Gerry Woodage. I think it was possibly the last recording of Bob Bogle playing with the Ventures.
