For those who 'dig' this kind of music...

Brian Bennett's 'Aim High' CD is well worth getting, although it's getting more difficult to find at a reasonable price.

Similarly, Alan Hawkshaw's 'Mohawk' CD, also from RPM records, as Brian features on many tracks.

Many of the KPM tracks, although obviousuly not the Bruton ones, are played live at the KPM gigs, often by the guys who originally wrote and recorded them!

I shall treat myself to the new Bennett CD for Christmas. Or maybe my birthday, which is only days away!!!

'Aim High' is brilliant. I suspect that 'Drama Montage' will be too!

I actually have the original vinyl records of these albums in mint condition and they are indeed very good! I will add the CD to my collection as well.

Does anyone have more information on these album? Recording date(s), location of recording and the personnel?

Talking of Brian Bennett CD's, is Change of Direction and The illustrated London noise worth purchasing? Does he just drum on the albums or does he sing?

No he doesn't sing. If you like jazzy arrangements of contemporary (late 60s) hits and a few classy originals with superb playing from all concerned then definitely worth looking out for. Brian's drumming is, of course, splendid throughout. You can hear many of the tracks on YouTube. I first heard Canvas (from the Change of Direction LP) on the EMI NUT LP Instrumental Gems (which came out around 1979) and although that's arguably the most impressive track on either of the albums there's lots more good stuff!

Don't own the 'Noise' but was that not the first appearances of Hank's later versions of 'Chameleon' and 'Love and Occasional Rain'? 'Tricycle' also rates alongside 'Canvas' I always thought!

Hank's album was released in November 1969 and Brian's "Illustrated London Noise" in December 1969, so it is the other way round.
From the musicians of "Hank Marvin" I only know apart from the man himself Rex Bennett on drums.
On Brian's LP the musicians were Brian (drms), Alan Hawkshaw (kbd), Big Jim Sullivan (g), Ritchie Tattersall (g), Herbie Flowers (bg) and Harold McNair (flute).

I fully agree, especially if you count the many inclusions of these tracks on club compilations.
