EP cover scans uploaded

Please see the gallery at:

http://shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=20&image_id=522

...where you will currently find scans of the front and reverse of the Shads' first Columbia UK EP "The Shadows" (SEG 8061).

Subject to any "cease and desist" requests from EMI, I intend this to be an ongoing series of posts of Shadows EP sleeves in the best quality I can upload to the site (bearing in mind the file-size limitation). Many of my EP cover scans have been digitally enhanced and restored, and I also have full size BMP files of them available for sending by email if anyone will find them useful. I currently have HQ scans of seventeen UK Shadows EPs, plus two French EPS and one South African four-tracker. Some of these are real rarities (eg, "The Shadows on Stage and Screen") and it'll take me a while to upload them all.

See what you think (there's a bit of a blurb posted with the front sleeve of the first one).

Best wishes,

JimN

The number of EP covers at the album mentioned above is now growing. They include:

The Shadows
The Shadows No 2
The Shadows No 3
Dream
(Cliff Richard & The Shadows)

I have more ready to upload...

Jim.

I have two French and one UK EP that you might like to have:

I bought the two French EPs in Paris on the way back from a school trip to Avignon in 1962. As you can see from the covers they were well used in the next few years.

These are 100 dpi. If you would like to keep copies then I can scan again at a higher resolution.

Hello, Didier and Phil,

I have copies of the following EPs which I intend to scan and upload at a similar resolution to the ones already posted:

(a) the French "Apache" EP (like Phil's above, and I expect Didier has a copy too);

(b) "Wonderful Land Of The Shadows";

(c) "Foot Tapping With The Shadows";

(d) "Los Shadows" (the earlier "hats" version - I would love a HQ scan of the front of the "Cathedral Steps" version);

(e) "Shindig With The Shadows";

(f) "Those Brilliant Shadows" (which has the unique UK content of TFYL / This Hammer / Geronimo / Shazam!);

(g) "Rhythm And Greens";

(h) "Thunderbirds Are Go";

(i) "The Shadows On Stage And Screen";

(j) "Live At The Collosseum"and

(j) the French EP Feelin Fine' / Don't Be A Fool (with love).

I would very much appreciate colour scans of any other Shadows UK EPs, in particular:

Spotlight On The Shadows
Out Of The Shadows No 2
Dance With The Shadows No 2
Themes From Aladdin
Alice In Sunderland (containing Dakota and Don't It Make You Feel Good? from the "Dance With The Shadows" LP, meaning that all fourteen tracks from that album were released on EPs)
The Sound Of The Shadows
The Sound Of The Shadows No 2
The Sound Of The Shadows No 3
Those Talented Shadows

...and, of course, any French EPs other than the two I mentioned above.

Tears and damage can be repaired (though if words are missing from text, that can be more difficult to fix). I'd prefer the scans to be emailed to me in BMP form, and I'll do the repair work at my end.

Over to you two gentlemen!

Best wishes,

JimN

Jim,
I'm enjoying the scans.
Was thinking last night, that a wall poster of the collection would make a great decoration for the music room.
Keep 'em coming.
Cheers,
JB

Hi Jim

The Spotlight on the Shadows is included above. I know that the back cover is not in much of a state. During the 1960s my dad built a home bar in our front room - a bit upmarket for a very old terraced house in Manchester :lol: He pinned a number of covers to the back wall and you can see the damage caused by the drawing pin in the picture.

Would you like me to scan at a higher resolution to a .bmp

Of course I have, it was the first Shadow's record I bought (but not the last one !).

I dont' have them all, but I have quite a few, I'll send them soon.
For some strange marketing reasons, in the fifties and early sixties, only EPs were available from record shops in France (singles were made only for jukebox). So any artist needed to have at least four tracks to have a record released. And this is why Apache was released in France on an EP with the addition of Jet Black and Drifin' from the Drifters' days !
It sold 1 million copies...
