Interesting to read about Cliff's choice of material for his new album..

Coincidentally, yesterday I just happened to watch again a clip of his performance at the 1964 NME Poll Winners Concert, with the Shads and their Burns lineup backing him whilst he sang...'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On'....

Plus ca change etc! :D

Elvis did have Cliff's 'Living Doll' single on his juke box at Gracelands so he clearly rated Cliff as a singer which makes their 'duet' a bit more credible....

I too will be buying Cliff's new album, both for the music itself firstly of course and as I believe he deserves my support in return for all the great pleasure his music, TV shows, films and concert shows have given me over the years !

I wish someone would remix the stereo 'Scotch on The Socks' and remove all the 'larking about' and laughter from it !

Why is this allowed to be called a 'new' album when there doesn't seem to be anything new on it?!

Do you mean these are all re-releases or that songs from the rock'n'roll era are not new?

"Why is this allowed to be called a 'new' album when there doesn't seem to be anything new on it?!"

How should it be referred to? An old album? It's not been out before...

Move It is included. Wonder whether that's new. The Reunited version was a great version, as were Hank Plays Cliff and Brian May/BB versions.

These are all new recordings made recently in Nashville.

I'm still hoping for a Fabulous Vol 3 featuring the Shads for the 60th anniversary in 2018/9. Perhaps they could do some Great British rock n roll covers.

Now, I am not suggesting for one moment that Elvis would resent getting the chance to sing with Cliff, but the point is, no one can ask him and so it's all done without his knowledge and consent.

I agree. Besides, Cliff has recorded Blue Suede Shoes and his version is very tame compared with Elvis. No drive, no swing. I don't think he can do better as an old man.

Just out of curiosity then, how would you describe 'Shades of Rock', 'String of Hits' and most of the Shadows albums from the 1980s...?
