Stars fell on Stockton

Postby George Geddes » Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:18 pm

Last night, I was at a Simply Gershwin concert in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall - and very good it was too. During the second hals, the conductor introduced the song A fooggy day in London Town by saying that there were lots of songs about English towns, and that he even knew of one recorded by the Shadows, called Stars fell on Stockton! (He sort of spoiled it by saying it was a cover of an old song from the 30s, obviously confusing with Stars fell on Alabama). He jokingly asked if the audience would sing along. I did remark to our friends that at least one of the audence could...
