On the contrary, 36-24-36 was apparently a reference to a secretary in peter Gormley's office...

I've just noticed that Chas has Frenchified my name... Allons-y!

Perhaps See You in My Drums was also a reference to the secretary in Peter Gormley's office. For all we know, she could have been the inspiration for many other song titles, or even songs. :D :D :D

For me, Genie With the Light Brown Lamp is a very a witty title.

Part of their talent is that they're a lot wittier than most of us! Hank once said in an interview that it often took longer to think up the titles than to write the tunes in the first place!

From the 'Hits Right Up Your Street' album, there was 'Thing-me-jig', which is a really clever play on words, and HBM's 'Guitar Player' solo album number 'A Tall A Tall Dark Stranger', the number with an Irish feel.... (how does an Irish feel?...) I know that Bruce and Hank have a really Goons influenced sense of humour (as Mr. Roger Allcock of Sarf Devon has alluded)- listen to the end of 'Chelsea Boot' from the Jigsaw album, with the 'running away feet' and breaking glass- hilarious!! Just had annuvver thought ("Oooh me nut!!")- not necessarily humorous, but 'Wahine' is a great play on 'Hawaii' and I guess, 'Whine' to evoke the feel of that number.
Just had another thought!!...("Nurse, another Paracetamol and a rub down with an NHS review...")- 'Jumping Jack Input' from the 'Rocking with Curly Leads' album- clever stuff!

I will now call for an ambulance and get me coat on the way out..........

.......sorry, don't speak Maori!......anyway, I don't think Maori people are from Hawaai, (N.Zealand surely?). I was, in my normal way, just offering up an example based on the thread- it wasn't intended to be definitive....

A couple of others - 'Scotch On The Socks' and 'Hats Off To Wally' (presumeably a take on Del Shannon's 'Hats Off To Larry')

I wonder what the story behind 'Tales Of A Raggy Tramline' is??

Also, I wonder what our friends outside the UK make of some the titles we've been discussing - whether many have understood the humour from the first time they read a particular title or whether it's come to light later on?

If we're including Shadow's solo efforts, there's Tony's 'Kings Go Fifth' , a play on the film title 'Kings Go Forth'.
