Way back in 2012, I had the great pleasure of talking to Alan at great length about his career, with emphasis on his TV and library composing. Now, I don't know when or even if this footage will ever find its way onto the telly, as planned, but I've done a couple of grabs from the video.
1) This is Alan playing, at my request, the theme to 'Exodus'. I am the headless body standing in the background. There are no words to describe how this experience felt.
2) A great shot of Alan at his old mixing desk, which he told me he bought in 1979. Sadly, I made a complete fool of myself when he asked me to guess how much it had cost. I was several thousands of pounds out!
As a matter of interest, in the background of the 2nd shot is the 'tower' containing all the electronics for his Synclavier keyboard. Sadly, we never got to hear this working!
Such a nice guy and a genius too.
And now a doctor of music to boot.
