Just caught the opening scenes of the 1957 UK film "After The Ball" on the Talking Pictures channel. The movie is a biopic of the English music-hall entertainer, male impersonator Vesta Tilley, cited several times by Jet and his various biographers as his great, great aunt.
Her career is covered at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesta_Tilley.
What surprised me, however, was the very first song sung by the adult Tilley in the 1957 film: The Piccadilly Johnny With The Little Glass Eye, whose lyrics can be found at https://monologues.co.uk/musichall/Songs-P/Piccadilly-Johnny-With-Glass-Eye.htm
It immediately occurred to me that this song is used in the film "The Young Ones" as part of the We've Got A Show medley, albeit under the slightly different title Algy the Piccadilly Johnny.
I don't think The Shadows were in that scene, but wonder whether the presence of the song, made famous by Jet's great great aunt (who had died only nine years earlier) was remarked on at the time...
