WATCH THIS!!!

Never seen this until about five minutes ago! Great quality and Hank's antics are amusing! Well Brian seems to think so anyway! Never seen Cliff Hall and George Ford together in the line-up before - apart from on the 1980 spring tour.

As they say... ENJOY!!!

Thanks for the link, Chris. A most entertaining video indeed. If I remember correctly the line up did a tour in Holland in 1980.

They did. It was in the Spring of 1980. The last concert of this tour was professionally filmed and multi-track recorded for television on April 2nd, 1980 at the Doelen Theatre in Rotterdam.
This TopPop clip however, was probably recorded later that year or maybe early 1981, as it was featured on the September 1980 album "Change Of Address", the first on the Polydor label and one of their finest of the Polydor era, in my humble opinion. To coincide with the Autumn tour of 1980 (with Alan Jones instead of George Ford on bass guitar), "Mozart Forte" was released in the same month as the parent album, backed with "Midnight Creepin'".

A track that has never appealed to me - 'Fender Bender' would have kicked off 'Change of Address' better for me - I replaced the Mozart track with that when I put it onto cassette tape years ago

Not sure what you mean by that. Of course they are miming to the recording, just about EVERYONE did that in those days! Common knowledge. So what's fake about it that it needs to be pointed out as if it's in some way an important point to make?

I think the Shads were probably influenced by SKY to some degree when choosing to do this.

Controversial, I know, but I honestly think that their 1980 version of 'Temptation' should have been released as a single. It's very much in the vein of 'Riders in the Sky' (deliberately I assume) and I have never understood why it was not released as a single. A better choice, in my view, to either this or Equinox pt. V.

(their live version of Temptation was amazing!)

What I mean is that, not only in this case, musicians not even try to do like it is real. You can see the moves on the guitar, the drums and hear something different, that annoys me.
No cables to an amp etc.
The only thing I see is an act. That is just my opinion.
That said, I have no critic on the quality of The Shadows, they are great!!

Besides that, I have a feeling that any kind of criticism is not appreciated........

Your comment is perfectly valid, Emiel. What they did would have been hard to do if playing live. In this case, they were giving a TV performance and we know how Hank likes to entertain!
