Final Tour

Watching the 2004 tour again, to me the highlights - which showed how good the Shads really were - are MY HOME TOWN - GUITAR TANGO and Hank's solo in DONT MAKE MY BABY BLUE!
No doubt many of you will have your own ideas!

The early-mid 1970s MWF/Shads era was sadly under-represented, but then I think it always has been.

Neil this brings back fantastic memories of their night in Blackpool, ten minute standing ovation before they started
tickets going for £250. Faulty amplifier and Bruce's joke about the red bus while they waited. Brilliant playing, sorry couldn't pick a favourite, fantastic show and the blu ray is the best dvd ever
getting it out right now. Thanks for that Neil.

I agree, a great audio/visual document of The Shadows' final tour. I can't really pick favourites from this show, as there are too many to mention in my opinion. I also have really good memories from the tour, as my father and I together with some friends went to see The Shadows in Norwich and also got to meet them at the stage door.

Incredible. Saw them in Nottingham on this tour. FRONT ROW seats and got to meet Bruce and Brian in an Indian restaurant after the show! On Brian's 'Diary of a Drummer', you can see us in the front row at Nottingham - although the photo has been mistakenly placed in the Oxford entry.

Also saw them at the Palladium (yes, bought tickets from an agency for roughly £500 the pair!!!) on an incredible hot night in June for their final gig of the UK tour - joined on stage by Cliff. Unforgettable.

I think the overall playing of all members was better on the Final Tour than At their very best (it wasn't). The music has a new lease of life and sounds fresh, this is probably due to the 14 year break, giving the music a chance to 'rest'.
Shame there won't be a 60th anniversary but you can't have everything i suppose.

The Shadows were indeed very strong during the tours of 2004 and 2005 and again together with Cliff in 2009 and 2010. No doubt they can still play great, but I think they were on top of their game during the 50th anniversary tour and there is no need to do it again now that it's almost 60 years ago that their association with Cliff began. But as Hank said nine years ago, never say never! :)

I'm a bit jealous of you because unfortunately I have never seen the Shadows. Whenever they played in Germany, I had to play gigs with my band. (After all, a small consolation that I saw the Beatles in Munich.)

Was that the Circus Krone? They played there in 1966 and it was filmed.
