I think you underestimate what barristers do...especially here in USA.
There are way 2 many of them and well call them ambulance chasers or "slip 'n fall" lawyers.

I thought the Cool Water song was fine, illustrates how
good the vocals are.

The other seemed to be a bit of a mickey take, not impressed.

Cool Water and Chicago were items from TV shows - not studio recordings. Presumably The Shads were happy with them when they were originally broadcast and so if it were feasible to issue them on DVD I wouldn't have thought they could object. Most of The Shadows original studio recordings have been issued and deleted several times over the years. I would imagine it's still possible to build up a pretty good collection with a few clicks on your laptop using Amazon, Leo's Den and eBay whereas in the 70s and early 80s you would have had to scour secondhand record shops, jumble sales etc. to acquire a fraction of what's available now - as I did! I can still remember the thrill of travelling back home from the Notting Hill Record and Tape Exchange on the 52 bus in early 1980 with good condition copies of the MfP Mustang LP and Rockin' With Curly Leads for £1.20 each! Anyone still reading....????

We have to remember that in the current era of MP3 downloads etc. the cost of keeping The Shadows entire 50 year back catalogue available indefinitely to a dwindling number of hardcore fans would be astronomical

Didier,

Would have an email address that I could order the French CD from? I would love to buy that.

Regards from Manila,

Andy

Yes it's legal, Magic Records is a fully legal company, and only releases what they are licenced for, no bootlegs. Martial Martinay, founder and manager of the company confirmed it to me.

Hi Andy,

You can order Magic Records' CDs directly from them at : http://www.magic-records.com
They are a small French company, specialised in reissues from the fifties to the eighties. They have a large guitar instrumental section with CDs from the Shadows, the Spotnicks, the Ventures, Duane Eddy, etc.

Cheers,
