It's a Song John wrote to Mariane Faithfull.

"Fairy Tale Hero" [John Rostill] was originally released on Marianne Faithfull's vinyl album "Dreamin' My Dreams" in 1976, on CD the album came out in 2004.
My copy is on a Marianne Faithfull CD compilation "Lady Madelaine Great Songs", Weton-Wesgram, 2008 Holland, MS085.
It was also included on the 2CD set "Marianne Faithfull & Friends", Weton-Wesgram, 2008 Holland, ORANGE 255.

Discogs has copies for sale but the condition varies a lot and they are rather expensive.

Are you aware that a version by Olivia Newton-John is existing? It appeared as bonus track on the Japanese "Clearly Love" CD re-issue from 2010.
