Shang A Lang 1975

Check out these old video shows of The Bay City Rollers own TV Show (You Tube)
Episode 07 is of most interest, as the Shadows are guests performing their Eurovision triumph!!
Bruce Mc Welch with an eye catching tartan bunnett is interviewed by one of the laddies ye ken.
Big Jim Sullivan wears a nice kilt and er- performs with two of the band!!! Worth checking out the
other early shows where he had his own spot too.

I was working mainly nights at that time, and left the house at about 18:30, so the childrens' slot and the news were things I would frequently catch whether I wanted to or not. If I recall correctly, Big Jim was a fixture on that BCRs show, and either played in the studio backing band(!) or at least did a sort of solo spot most weeks.

I remember seeing him playing part of the Mozart Horn Concerto with one or two of the group on one occasion.

Interesting that this is on Youtube now. I'll admit that I got a copy of this on DVD about 15 years ago (I think). I believe the footage of the Shads was directed by Mike Mansfield and takes the form of a promo video. Love the sparkling background, looks like tinsel or something! Alan Tarney on the electric piano (think it's a Wurlitzer) and Bruce pretending to play his bass!

I did catch a few episodes of this - not willingly, obviously! I was working in a television shop at the time so was sort of a captive audience.

I remember Jim Sullivan's 'spot' where he would show the Rollers how to play various things on guitar (which they didn't need, as they never played on their records).
