Jim, "Trying To Forget The One You Love" is definitely in mono on the 2004 4CD box. Paul Wray probably refers to the 1995 3CD box "The First 20 Years At The Top - 1959-1979", where the track is in stereo. For proof of this, refer to Malcolm Campbell's book "A Guide To The Shadows And Hank Marvin On CD" (2005 edition).

"I Can't Forget" has been issued in mono on the 1968 German single "I Can't Forget"/"Running Out Of World".

I have queried Paul's description.

I have become a member of this group now, a very nice page, thank you for the link!

Regarding "Trying To Forget The One You love", it really is featured in its original mono 1968 single version with the overdubbed high voice of Hank's lead guitar on the 2004 UK 4CD box "Complete Singles: As & Bs 1959-1980: 21 Years At The Top". I have checked it again with my own copy of this CD box. Malcolm Campbell also mentions this in his review of the set. For his review, click this link: http://www.malcolmcampbell.me.uk/reviews/shadsfax51.html.
Maybe Paul Wray's copy of the set is a different pressing, containing the undubbed (without the high voice of Hank's lead guitar) stereo version, but I'm 100 percent sure that my copy includes the mono version.

I have the Established 1958 Shads tracks in mono but on vinyl only. I have the stereo versions on 'Everything of value'. I also have mono vinyl versions of the Rhythm & Greens EP, From HBB&J and A place in the sun. The only mono single i have mono after 1965 is the aforememtioned 'Place'. All others are in stereo (CD) only.
