I enjoyed the Radio Luxemburg recordings as I haven't heard them before, wish there was more of them.

"Cerveza" was indeed the inspiration for "36-24-36". "Nivram" has similarities to "Barney's Blues", "Midnight" to "Sleepwalk" and of course "Shadoogie" to "Guitar Boogie".

Re Cerveza. When I was around thirteen my Dad had a record called Cerveza. It wasn’t a Shads Number. I think the melody line was played with a Sax. Does any one have any info re this record. I’d really like to get a copy. Spotify doesn’t recognise the title.
All info gratefully received

It sounds quite similar to "Tequila".

Hmm, just noticed the inlay says that FBI was recorded in September 1960? I could check my Victor Rust book but it's in the loft. I don't think this is correct. I's guess it was recorded at the end of 1960 or January 1961?

Malcolm Campbell, the most reliable source, also puts the FBI recording at 13/9/60.

In his 1989 autobiography Bruce states: "We wrote 36-24-36 as a straight copy of the Champs' hit Tequila, and it developed from there."

Tequila was issued c. March 1958 and Boots Brown's Cerveza was released around September the same year, so maybe one can infer that the latter was inspired by the former, then 36-24-36, in turn, by both.

I had never heard Cerveza, which of course means “beer.” 36-24-36 does resemble it.

Many thanks!
