Mine arrived this morning. So I shall be self-isolating in the conservatory tonight and listening to it!

Despite having ordered this CD, I can't help wondering if it's an official release and from which country Dusty Tapes originates. Does anyone know?

It isn't an official release in the sense of being released or sanctioned by Warner Music, if that's what you mean.

The track-listing immediately tells the reader that Dusty Records consider all of the contents to be out of copyright (ie, released before 1st January 1963) and therefore legitimately used on this compilation. Much of it has indeed already been released by labels specialising in non-copyright items of that period.

Pardon my ignorance, but why is this compilation different from earlier CDs with the same numbers, for instance, the five-CD compilation?

Leo's Den describe it as an Import CD, most likely from Europe... France?

I'd love to see a CD of the unreleased tracks from the EMI vaults, several posters here say that there are tracks in a finished state, but it's unlikely they'll see the light of day as I can't see Warners thinking that would be a big seller but that doesn't stop another company coming along with a deal to have the tracks licensed to them? There would be a chance that one or some band members would possibly object to it's release anyway.

Didn't start listening to it until 11.20 last night... so listened to it for an hour, 23 tracks, then called it a night. It sounded great to me, although it wasn't really until BB arrived on the scene that you could actually hear the bass drum. They sounded raw and fresh in most of these recordings and I'll admit that most of them were new to me; this was the Shadows before the rough edges got smoothed off. Never heard that version of 'Guitar Tango' before... a bit messy, I thought, and not as good as the released version.

All in all, a great album so far; a real eye-opener... or 'ear' opener! Twenty minutes and ten more tracks to listen to tonight.

In response to Bill's question, the CD originates from Poland.

I got mines this morning and just put it on (currently on 36-24-36). I notice on the sleeve that the company can't confirm if the live Paris recordings are from 1961 or 62. Think this was discussed on here, I think it was found to be late 1961? Or am I wrong?
