Postby Iain Purdon » Mon Dec 06, 2021 12:54 am

That well-used, well-loved sunburst P-bass, the one Licorice brought to all the clubs, the one he first played with Marty Wilde, the one he used to record Dance On

It’s being auctioned online on Thu 9 Dec!

Wow, that's a great piece of history to own (if you are the highest bidder). I remember Brian showing me that same bass guitar during the 40th International Cliff Richard & The Shadows Fan Meeting on April the 7th and 8th, 2001.

With a reserve of £5 000 & estimated value between £5,000 & £10 000, it's beyond my means.
Besides, it's the wrong colour!! :D

I saw that the other day. It's times like this that I'm glad I don't play bass, otherwise my wife would be starting divorce proceedings! Looks be be a great aution lot, with some signed ephemera included in the sale. Went for £10,500 hammer price, so £13,772 with buyers premium. I thought it might have made a bit more to be honest. A lovely instrument.

The auctioneers rated it between £5k and £10k so I’m
glad to see it exceeded that range.
