Record Store Day 2022

Postby George Geddes » 23 Apr 2022, 13:45

After an hour or so in the queue, my patience paid off and I got my hands on this:

Did need it? Not really.
Did I want it? Certainly.

Am I mad? Answers on a postcard, please..

Exercise great care getting the sticker off the cellophane, George!

It'll comprise a third of the value in years to come!

Glad to see that BB was part of Record Store Day. I had completely forgotten about it to be honest. No doubt some of these (but not yours!) will be turning up on ebay in the not too distant. Bought my original copy in 1981 and have since acquired it on CD a few times. Great album which sounds as good today as it ever did.

Jim - assuming I decide to open it... You might be interested to note that one of the other RSD offerings was a single (in pic. sleeve) of Sailing By by Ronald Binge.

Chris - the store I visited plans to put all remaining RSD stock online this Friday. Maybe other stores do likewise?

I queued for 3 hours in Louth. Well worth the wait although for all the people in the queue (and there were quite a few), no one had heard of Brian Bennett! However the lady in front of me wanted an album by "Skunk Anansie". I'd never heard of them so it evened out.
By the time she got to the shop though, he had sold the only copy!

Nice coloured vinyl.

I still haven't breached the cellophane on my LPs of "Thank You, Les!" by the Lou Pallo Trio or "The Shadows Live At The BBC" (number 007)...

I'm surprised but also delighted to see the "Voyage" album getting its fifth re-release since the original 1978 issue (not counting the 1980 library music album "Fantasia" or the unofficial 2010 LP release) in almost 25 years' time.
- The 1997 UK '2 on 1' CD issue on the See For Miles Records label, combined with the "Rock Dreams" album.
- The 2017 Australian LP issue on the Isle Of Jura Records label.
- The 2020 Australian CD issue on the Isle Of Jura Records label.
- The 2021 UK double CD issue on the Cherry Red Records label.
- The 2022 US LP issue on the Real Gone Music Records label.

I see on "Discogs.com" that the RSD 2022 issue was licenced from Cherry Red Records, which in turn was licenced from Brian himself as he owns the rights to the album again.
