More Cliff and Shadows,on you-tube.

Just spotted this on you-tube and thought that I would pass it on for your perusal !. For a while I thought that the Shadows and Cliff had been allowed to perform without dancers, but sadly I was wrong. One final point, is that Tony Meehan on the drums again ? All the best, Philip.

Yes that looks like Tony. Interesting blend of the original records and extra orchestration. Guitar Tango's quite a laugh :)

What's wrong with the dancers ?
I thought that some could have been a welcomed addition during the Shadows' Final Tour and the current Final Reunion tour ! :D
Thanks for the video anyway...

superb! guitar tango sketch is brilliant - and love the way in foot tapper the miming is really bad!!!

I assume that is from 'After Ten Fellas'? (the title of the video is 'After Ten Follows Ten')
I remember a couple of years ago a couple of the members here (I think) bought the tapes - and were gauging interest to see if they could get enough buyers to merit a release of this. Seem to remember they had to hit a certain number and were intending to release the show to all buyers at the same time (to beat the bootleggers, I guess) but nothing became of it.
Shame this seems to have sneaked out onto the net anyway- and they get nothing in return for their outlay. Nobody really wins

PS - where was Brian? I knew he had not been on the 1969 New Years Eve show and had been ill for a week (was it talk of the town) but I didn't realise that he wasn't on this show?

.... especially with Meehan miming to Bennett and Rostill miming to Locking!

(and was it Marvin miming to Paramor?)

There are several more clips from this particular show on you-tube,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyopJcKyDlk is perhaps the most interesting as it shows Hank,Bruce and John acting in a little sketch about song writing.Another clip explains that Brian was missing following the removal of his appendix. What a shame that inner tensions were to tear the band apart, just six months later, they actually seemed to have a nice rapport with each other.

Yes, Foot Tapper is close to the original feel but the bass line is slightly different - which suggests a re-record - but Bachelor Boy and Guitar Tango sound like the original records. An altogether odd selection!

At the end of the latter one you'll learn how "The rise and fall of Flingel Bunt" was composed...

Oh what fun!

So good to see John's personality on show.

And neither they nor anyone else has never ever recaptured that fantastic sound of the original Flingel Bunt. Great to see Tony mining to Brian....
