BBC4 tonight: MWF

Postby Moderne » 28 May 2023, 17:24

Just a quick heads-up...sorry for the short notice. At 10.25pm tonight (Sunday 28th May) BBC4 are showing Cilla in Scandinavia which features Marvin, Welch, Farrar singing (if memory serves...) Lady of the Morning and Norwegian Wood (the latter song with Cilla). Also appearing are Ringo Starr and Basil Brush. I can't wait...!

I would imagine that's the first time Marvin, Welch & Farrar have been seen or heard on an entire repeated programme from the early '70s (not counting documentary 'clips' shows) for over 50 years. 'Cilla in Scandinavia' was last shown on 27th November 1971 (two days before my wife was born!) - according to the iPlayer website. Quite painfully dated maybe - and the MWF segment has been available to view for years - but still quite something to watch. Available to view for another four weeks or so.

Watched it yesterday... mid summer. It was OK. Nice to see that Marvin, Welch and Farrar were on TWICE during the show and that Hank did some 'comedy' stuff with Cilla. Worth watching but, apart from the MWF bits, not really worth keeping.
