recommend 180g decent vinyl releases

Postby hiffclall » Thu Jun 01, 2023 3:19 pm

Hi all. My first ever shadows vinyl album was 20 golden greats which was bought for me buy my dad second hand in about 82 I think....

I've bought another copy since then but I still find the quality of the pressing / condition a little poor, especially the distortion on the last tracks on each side (even with a nicely aligned cart and stylus) - I guess due to them cramming 10 tracks on each side (Would love 20GG to be released on 2 LPS!)

I wondered if people could recommend any nicely pressed 180g versions of similar stuff that's on the 20 GG album?

I've just started compiling a list myself - looking at things like "the singles collection" and "apache".

Any recommendations greatly appreciated! Thanks all :-)

Interestingly, in Spain 20 Golden Greats WAS released as a double album - 5 tracks per side!

The following LPs were issued on 180g vinyl:
- The Shadows "Singles Collection" (2 LP, UK 2013: https://www.discogs.com/release/5937102 ... Collection)
- The Shadows "40 Golden Classics" (2 LP, UK 2018: https://www.discogs.com/release/1204437 ... n-Classics)

The thing is though, that the choice of tracks is limited to the period 1959 to 1962, the tracks of which have fallen in the public domain.

Thanks!

The singles collection looks interesting. :-)

I'll probably avoid the 40 golden greats as it still has 10 tracks per side crammed in :-(
