The "We Say Yeah" podcast - number 24 - with BRUCE WELCH!

Over an hour of Bruce commenting track by track on "The Shadows' Greatest Hits" (issued 60 years ago this very month).

Lots of memories of the period and earlier (and a few from later)...

You'll love it.

Thanks for the "heads up", just spent the last hour or so listening - absolutely brilliant. Great to hear all those stories direct from Bruce.

Thanks again,

Yes, it's always good to hear Bruce reminiscing about the 'golden' era in particular, despite the broad history of the early days being familiar to us all.

One more recent topic discussed, though, was the mysterious disappearance of the celebrated plaque commemorating the birthplace of British rock 'n' roll outside the former 2i's coffee v bar in Old Compton Street. We are informed it was apparently removed, for whatever reason, by the proprietors of the fish and chip shop which now occupies the site, suggesting there is no question of a possible replacement.

Yes, that was a very good podcast with a fair bit of interesting information contained.

This story is so evocative of the times - 'echoes' of Juke Boxes, Wimpy Bars, seaside piers, winkle pickers, blue jeans with the vital paler blue turn ups, fish and chips in newspaper after school detentions - and the seemingly mysterious sound of the Shads.

I don't think so.

But you can contact him via his own FB page or the "We Say Yeah" FB page.
