Tabs

Postby Jeff1 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:02 pm

Hi All,
Thought I would ask a question that has undoubtedly been asked before, but perhaps things have moved on a little.
I would like to have or buy Tabs for Hanks and the Shadows music.
I have looked at some on the net etc and am aware that some are considerably better than others. Could you please advise me as to the best and most accurate Tabs to buy?
Many Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I agree, Tony Clout's tabs are first class. You might want to try the tabs for the UB Hank series from Leo's Den, they are also very good, transcribed by Steve Gibb, and they are pretty much most of the Shadows (certainly more popular) stuff.

G'day Jeff,

I purchased full sets of UB Hank vol's 1..6 tabs and BT's from http://www.mustang-music.com/

Lots of good free (voluntary PayPal contribution) tabs & BT's http://goran.tangring.com/

Dave.

Thank you all for your replies.
I am aware of many tabs out there for the same tunes, and some are far away from others.
I am looking for Tabs that replicate the way that Hank played them at the time , ie open D or fifth fret A? Does it matter? well i just want to be as acurate as i can.
Once again thank you .

Regards

Jeff

Tabs have only to be just a tool for you to learn a tune but you have to add your own ear. I myself don´t like to play open strings and use to play it in the 5th (or 4th) fret but it´s your own decision, IMO.
