Yes we did... and here it is, played live...

I used the same distortion settings as for The Warlord - also on YouTube...

David Martin wrote:have you listened really carefully to the keyboard part in Maggie's Samba? Could that be Hank through his Leslie etc? I know I can replicate that solo on a guitar with a really authentic sound...

What do you think? ;)

Are you sure that's a keyboard?

Hank had more or less the same sound - live on stage - the next year, playing Slaughter On 10th Avenue with his Burns guitar through a rotary speaker...

That's what I mean, Jim... I also used the same effects on "Slaughter", the last tune I played with Legend...

David many thanks - enjoyed that. Great sound.
The drumming on this tune is just terrific (both on your version and on the original) - in fact, its a real group effort.

Nice sound you got David, from what is now my mate Keith Bateman's Bass VI! I keep going on at him by e-mail to put a set of flatwounds on it though!!

Interesting watching the YouTube clips on the thread "Willy did the Cha-Cha"- what a difference between Hank's 1961 Strat and echo sound, and the dry nasal Burns tone with little or no echo in 1965...

And also in the 1961 clips we see and hear Bruce playing the Telecaster which he swore he never played! And with Jet's old sunburst Precision, growling away alongside Tony, they are actually using the same guitars pictured on the first album cover that same year...
