The 12th annual Shadows Music Gala at Scarborough is due to take place over the weekend of 22/23rd May providing two days of great guitar instrumental music.
It is organised by the East Yorkshire club, and includes seven of the countries top Shadows tribute bands playing many of the hits made famous by The Shadows in their Fifty plus years of playing together.
Special guests include Alan Jones who was the bass player with the group for more than fifteen years recording such hits as Don’t Cry For Me Argentina & Cavatina. Alan has played bass for many international stars such as Tom Jones & Elvis Presley. Also performing will be the very talented Terry Devon - a top comedian from Blackpool who as well as making everyone laugh will be playing his guitar - something he does very well. There will also be demonstrations by two backing track specialists of some of the latest tracks to be made available on CD. Ian McCutcheon from Leamington Spa who has recently finished his fourteenth CD and Roger Allcock from Plymouth.
There will be plenty of time available for budding Hank Marvin’s or Bruce Welch’s to get up and play either to backing tracks or ‘live’ with a band - just bring your guitar.
If you like The Shadows and remember all those hits the group had then this is a must for you. This is one of the few shows of its kind to held in the UK this year.
The weekend starts on Saturday the 22nd May at 12noon and finishes at 17.45pm and on Sunday 23rd May, starting at 10.30am and finishing at 16.30pm. Tickets will be available on the door & cost £10 for two days or £6-00 for one.
There is free parking and the event takes place at :- Scarborough Rugby Club, Scalby Road, Scarborough YO13 0NL
