Jeff Beck on Breakfast TV BBC1 at 9.00 am - OT

Postby Twangaway » Wed May 19, 2010 8:34 am

Jeff is making another showing today at 9.00 Am launching his new album, it just showed a clip of him doing the end notes of Cry fior me Argentina.

Looks like the album is all instrumentals. Last night on Jools Holland - repeated on Friday, he did Over the Rainbow as an Instrumental too, So a sign of an interesting album

Jeff Beck's latest album is "Emotion & Commotion"
Tracks are :-
1. Corpus Christi Carol
2. Hammerhead
3. Never Alone
4. Over The Rainbow
5. I Put A Spell On You - Jeff Beck & Joss Stone
6. Serene - Jeff Beck & Olivia Safe
7. Lilac Wine - Jeff Beck & Imelda May
8. Nessun Dorma
9. There's No Other Me - Jeff Beck & Joss Stone
10. Elegy For Dunkirk - Jeff Beck & Olivia Safe

No sign of Argentina though

In my opinion a brilliant album. Watched him on Jools Holland last night, seems to play notes just by use of the whammy bar, unbelievable.

Hi David

When I read your post I wondered if it might have been "Nessun Dorma" but not having seen the clip I wouldn't have questioned what you heard as knowing Jeff Beck it might well have been "Argentina"

Also Jools Holland is repeated, I think Saturday & Sunday and it is a longer show so I expect there will be at least 1 more Jeff track

Hi Bob,

Yes am going to be watching Friday night after Jonathan Woss on HD :) Am sure it's an extended version of the show, and will feature one more track, maybe even two.

I noticed Jeff was not happy with his performance on Jules Rainbow track and missed some key notes, but that's ok with me, it was really nice, and am amazed he didn't use echo or reverb as that would have lifted it magnificently. I love that white Strat, anything special about it ? other than the built in volume pedal :)

:) I suppose logically speaking that short trem makes more sense in non plectrum styled playing and actually gives him much more scope in it's handling than a full length one.

Can you buy the short trems ?

He is amazing.
He will dip the trem and simultaenously work the volume control.
He will strike a harmonic and construct a melody using only the trem.
Fantastic.
