Very interesting Heinz. Derek Fell joins the list of those now known to have performed onstage with the Shadows! This was certainly news to me!

I beleive also a drummer called Laurie Jay stood in for Tony Meehan for a tour of Scandinavia in 1961.I don`t think Tony performed many vocals with the Shadows.

Our first trip abroad was to Scandinavia and Germany, on an EMI promotion tour to plug Cliff’s records. The only disappointment of the tour was Tony’s absence or under circumstances, Tony’s abscess, as he rushed into hospital to have his appendix out. But we took a very capable replacement, a young guy called Laurie Jay. The Story of…page 73 (Tour 20th-30th October 1959)
