I have a squier Classic 50 tele - a great guitar for rhythm and lead, nice neck. A good buy!

Hi,

I just picked one of these up yesterday in mint condition, only played twice for £100.

It will be up for the "Ecca Test" tomorrow night!

I've been made a monkey of more times than I care to remember in guitar shops.
The kids today are brilliant.
I tend not to play owt.

Hi,

Regarding Ecca's last remark, we had a girl skater at the Ice rink who reckoned
she was red hot on the organ and kept asking to play the Hammond C3 at the rink.

She badgered us so much that we finally agreed she could try it after a session while
the ice was being re-surfaced.

Net result, she jumped on the organ and started to play it, after one tune she gave up,
the C3 has no pedal sustain, no auto accompaniment etc. all of which she was used to.

Boy was her face red, she'd told her friends that she was playing at the rink that night,
and some came to watch her!

Ian,
It's a re-issue of the fender tele custom!

Almost like a fender version of a Les Paul!

I don't know about kids playing stuff like Smoke on the Water or Stairway to Heaven in music shops these days...

As far as I am aware, the kids trying guitars in music shops these days usually seem to thrash away at "power chords" often with an open tuned or detuned guitar on heavy distortion, or they widdle away with their fuzzy noise playing 1,000 notes per minute at 1,000mph-indeed that is the sort of stuff that even the younger chaps working in the music shops seem to play these days, but can many (or any ) of them actually play a tune, or even a melody? Even a pleasant sequence of chords?

Over the years, I've been knocked out by hearing chaps in music shops playing Chet Atkins style pieces, classical guitar pieces and jazz chordal solo arrangements, or country picking on guitar or banjo.....but not for many years have I heard such stuff...!! :(

Ecca, perhaps you should try playing a Shads tune next time you are in a shop, some of the young ones may actually find it interesting and become inspired to play some real music!

I find that with guitar playing it's not how fast you get there that's important, it's the route that you take.

(I'm in a philosophical mood today!)

If only I had known! It could have saved me £200 on the price of the Tele Classic - IF I had bought it!
As it is the "G.A.S." moment has passed -'Er Indoors has spent the money on Christmas pressies now.
ENjoy it tonight Ecca - let us know the verdict.
