Any DIY Tape Echo Units Around Here?

Postby sausage fingers » Sun Nov 01, 2009 1:59 pm

I've pondered for a few years about building a tape echo unit probably valve as its easier, has anyone been down this line and finally managed to get one working and boxed up :D The tape transport would be the main problem no doubt, dc motor vari speed or movable heads to simulate different tape speeds? Perhaps converting an old tape recorder would be possible, i guess it doesn't have to be a tape loop
Oh well just a few thoughts, a project for one day no doubt if lifes long enough, perhaps someone here has already built one, anyone?
Regards
Rob

This is very much in the thoughts of quite a few of us here sausage fingers (!)
A Copicat would be ideal were they not so blinking expensive these days.

I'm using my old IC400 Copicat on stage, even with the 'anorak unfriendly' echo patterns, the sound it makes it blows the other stuff away.

Hi,

I just picked up an HH Multiecho today at Warwick, if nothing else it will
make a good mechanical basis for a meazzi style echo!
