Played well enough and the supporting instruments are fine...but way way too much echo...my goodness. I remember the original Shadows track very well. I suppose there is the temptation to dial in too much delay/reverb in the same way that very many bands play way way too loud, way too loud.

I think there is an assumption here that this is an attempt to replicate the original recording. not everyone is trying to be exactly like a Shadows recording. In this case The Shadows took a recording from Foreigner and did their version, here The VHBL have taken that Shadows version and recorded their version. It may be your opinion that there is too much echo, that is a matter of personal taste.
If a band plays too loud for you, or with too much echo/reverb for you, then you probably won't like it that doesn't mean that is wrong, it means that it is not to your taste.
I would assume that, like me , the VHBL share some of their music with us to enjoy ( or not) not to enter into a competition of who can sound most like the original.
Music, in my opinion is always an interpretation, perhaps that is why it can be thought of as an Art rather than a Science

Take care

The VHBL don't attempt to clone original recordings, they always do it their own way. Liking it or not is a matter of personal taste. I don't mind more echo than what Hank used after the early years.

merci Peter , Merci Didier , indeed our goal is not to clone the Shadows vesion except that it is an instrumental version, besides the entire accompaniment section
is based on Foreigner's
Thank you Tigerdaisy for your opinion

Hi Martin,
The lead uses a Hall & Collins echoes and the patch used and that of "Memory"
For the comments it is true that it is rather calm but it is identical on the other forums in the world ,It's often even non-Shadows titles that have the most success
And for that, thank you
