Hi all,
I hope you are all doing Ok.
My live take on a tune not too often played: “Valley of Sioux” of The Outlaws.
I much loved the first time I heard the tune played by the excellent Robby Januarsa of OZ.
To get close to the early Hank sound, I adopted his guitar setup and fitted my Mexican strat
with “Pure Vintage 59’s” pickups (not the Australian ones like him as they were above my budget. $350, but the Fender
Ones for $114).
Like him, I also used Flatwound strings and used his excellent backing track.
(I wonder why I haven’t seen him post here lately. He really has the sound that most of us have always been dreaming of).
I use 2 solid state amps to enhance my sound.
I am of course light years away from Robby’s unbelievable sound, which for me is indifferentiable from Hank’s early sound.
Hope you will still like it despite the misses.
Blessings,
Abdel
