Atlantis - another version?

Postby nivramarvin » 13 Oct 2021, 18:43

Today on facebook I saw a video of the Shadows playing "Atlantis" in a "W6070Club" (https://www.facebook.com/w6070club/vide ... 1803159757. Because of the clothes and hairstyles, I suspect an appearance in the 70s.)

The drummer is unknown to me. But what strikes me the most is the slightly slower tempo (122 bpm), that grooves better in my opinion. It seems not to be a live recording because the movements are out of sync.

I'm not familiar with this version of Atlantis and I've never seen the video before but looking at some of Bruce's chord progressions and fingerings I suspect that the reason it's out of sync is because the video is not of Atlantis but possibly Apache.

This clip is from BBC's "Pop Goes The Sixties", the new year's eve show from 31.12.1969.
The drummer is Tony Meehan.
The Shadows performed (mimed) 'Apache' and together with Cliff 'Bachelor Boy' who was solo on 'Congratulations'.

I hope this is of help.

Thank you for the information. I would also be interested in where this version of „atlantis“ comes from. It is slower and has a different accompaniment in the main part.
