North Star

Postby frdf » 16 Dec 2011, 14:44

Hi all. Another tune by Mike Oldfield, a shortened version of North Star. I had fun with this,
getting the sound I wanted but unlike most not nearly so polished.
It has not been a good week and a half. I ordered a new Fender Classic Player 60s Strat from
one company and they charged before shipping and then advised it would not be available until
the end of January. I cancelled the order and reordered from another retailer and it was shipped
on the 5th. Got a notice this morning the Post Office lost it !
I am not too popular with the missus at the moment, a tidy sum on the plastic and nothing to show
for it until all the mess is cleared up.
Ah....but tomorrow is another day, cheers to all !

I hope that the new order all turns out OK before Christmas Fred.

North Star is a new one on me and I liked it a lot. I think that maybe a more conventional guitar tone would improve things.

Hi Fred, I get where you're coming from on this piece. I would have coloured the lead with more mid EQ which would fatten out your sound, then shoved some flanger efx in there to help the sustain particularly as there's seems to be negliable echo. Mike Oldfield is an innovator and his sound is instantly recognisable for the time of sound you're producing so I say keep on going and follow the guy and his music. Good effort.
