Atlantis on new VOX amp

Postby Rosemary » 08 Mar 2012, 13:38

Hi everyone
I've just bought a VOX AC15C1 and then had to buy new shelves to make room for it ... but I am very very happy with it and did a quick recording of 'Atlantis' today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drJ4JkqoBm8
The video picture is smaller than normal as I wanted to get better sound quality on the video and my ADSL connection is pretty slow.
It's recorded with a webcam and USB powered desktop speakers playing the UBHank backing track CD, a Zoom G2.1Nu with EFTP and the amp setting is using the top boost channel which I'm still playing around with. The guitar is my secondhand Mexican Strat with new strings 10-52. It's still not as smooth as I'd like it but should be better than my previous efforts. :)
Best wishes

Very nice Rosemary, the new amp is really giving you a much better sound, On Atlantis for the last palm muted bit leave the pup sel on bridge then you don't have to worry moving the selector to bridge as the melody comes in quickly

Hi Keith
Thanks for listening and for the tip about the pickup. Of all the tunes I've tried through the new amp so far this is the one I'm happiest about because it's the first time I've ever been able to get a tone I like with Atlantis and I'm pretty sure with some more top boost tweaking it can be improved even more. It's now been 2 years since I started playing guitar (on the acoustic first) and as I'm still practising pretty hard thought it was time to step up the sound. :)
Best wishes

Hi Rosemary, I've had every amp on the market and the Vox is the real deal, you would get a little bit better tone with a Celestion 'Blue Alnico' CC1 X but they cost a lot more, I am trying to build my own bedroom studio with Ecca's help using Audacity to start, my 4 remaining brain cells find techie stuff very intimidating !!
