Surf The Univers

Postby fullerton62strat » 05 Jul 2012, 22:29

Here goes with my latest... Surf The Universe

It's a number I wrote back in 2000 amongst a bunch of others. Having worked with Bobby Graham on gigs he decided to record this number and use it on his ''Session Man'' album in 2003. His drumming is immaculate. He was a dream to work with.

We have used a shorter version of the original sound track backing so I hope you enjoy it. NOT Shadows, but again something a bit different!

Thanks to Phil McGarrick for the video production again.

Hello John
Very smooth! I thought it was going to be some kind of "surfing" tune but no its as smooth as a Bishops ballbag!!
Some very interesting variations using the chords and the mood of the tune - Loved It!!
Top Dollar

Thanks for your lovely comments Ian, and a great name suggestion for a new tune - ''Bishop's Ballbag''! Maybe a ballroom number?

The idea behind this number was born from an idea about launching into space (first section) and then just surfing through space on an endless journey. I've got up to 15 other compositions so I may start working on some of them for possible future sound files. They vary from shadow's type instrumentals to jazz and latin numbers. Lets see how it goes.

Many thanks
John

PS. Yes, Phil does allow the odd smile and being a bit camera shy I'm still working on how to behave when playing ''on a rostrum''. I've told him to get a 'Director's' chair so he can choreograph the hole production - make-up please!

Hi John.
What a super Strat sound. What with your very precise playing and Phil's imaculate production, makes for very easy listening. Good one.
Regards Geoff.

Hi John - I have to congratulate you on this !
Not only a brilliant composition but to play a 5 minute song of this complexity live without dropping a note is some achievment

Love the song which grows on you the more you listen - It was a pleasure to make the video.

Very well done... Phil

I usually get bored stiff watching videos of blokes sitting on their backsides but your playing was fluent and the chord changing effortless.
Excellent.
Ecca
P.S. Can I borrow the drummer ?
I always struggle to get good drumming,

Thanks Phil and Ecca for your kind comments, appreciation and acknowledgement; always appreciated this end.

Ecca, it was Phil's fault that I was sat on the chair playing; he wouldn't let me get Linda Lusardy to stand in - maybe next time!

Yes, the drumming is great, but poor old Bobby passed away two years ago now so you'll have to borrow my ''drum machine'' - one wooden box, two biscuit barrels, a tin of nails and a cow bell. Also Ecca, I love your postings - straight to the point, as it always should be, with a humorous side to boot!

Thanks guys,
John
