Well, these old ears of mine can't be as bad as I thought they were!
Spike, thanks for the post - bit of fun and as always excellent playing by Gary.

Spike, thanks, that was very educational for me. The two guitars had similar sounds, but distinctly different. Only one Burns guitar meade it to these islands, and I had never heard one played. I seem tp prefer the Burns for that piece. Gary's playing is superb and inspirational.

Atlantis

A wonderful idea! But if Gary played phrases or sections one after the other, that would make comparison easier. Perhaps we cold hear the original and then (not necessarily in this order) a Strat and a Burns. There is still the unresolved question of whether that was recorded on a Burns. Maybe the comparison will help.

best regards,

Andy

Hi Dave

I'll ask the boys if they want to do it with the two guitars.

Many years ago I believed it was done on a Burns but in recent years hearing Pauls version on a Fender and asking Hank about it, I have been converted :)

It will be interesting on Atlantis but maybe High and The Mighty might be another idea.

I'll put your order in and see what Paul and Gary reckon.

Paul recently recorded another Shads tune which I have never heard anyone post.

I will try and post it in the next few days as I am quite busy!

Thank you and to everyone here for their participation...its been fun!

Thanks Spike, I only mentioned Atlantis because of the history over various stories and opinions.

Hi John, Andy and Dave

John: Glad you had fun

Andy: We could do the Atlantis original with Hank, Burns and Strat and see if anyone can tell which is which. I think this will be harder to differentiate!

Dave: What do you reckon? Its a bit of extra work but I'm sure Paul and Gary will agree :)
They will probably kill me for this!
