Wonderful Land - Hank playing to UBH track

Postby dave robinson » 31 May 2015, 15:25

Charlie Hall and I have been experimenting for weeks on this stuff and I put together a clip of Hank playing Wonderful Land over the UB Hank BT.
Charlie sent me the clip of Hank with The Shads removed.
Hank's track had to be cut extensively to fit the speed of the UBH track which is rushed in comparison to the Shads.

Yes it proves that the real deal is when they all play together as the great band they most certainly were. I always felt that the mix influences the final result and it is clear here that the same guitar sounds different in a different setting which is what I expected.

For this song...Has anyone tried sending their recorded guitar track to an amp and then recording it at that source ? It should put it in the same sonic ballpark heard on the original, As good as old vox amps are, they dont quite achieve this sound on their own, Norrie may have done this at the Kingston gig as in recording it from the monitor in his mobile studio equipment, its worth a try..........regards gary
