Hi Ove,
This is perhaps Australia's greatest pop music song ever written, and I loved your interpretation. I saw the Easybeats play many times in Australia, and I tried to emulate their music with my own band back in the 60's but never came close. The Easybeats had a unique style and sound, often compared with the early Mersyside sound of The Beatles, but better instrumental players in my opinion.
The Easybeats were formed in Sydney in 1964 after their families had migrated to Australia: lead singer Stevie Wright (who sadly died in 2015) and drummer Gordon "Snowy" Fleet were from England; rhythm guitarist George Young was from Scotland; lead guitarist Harry Vanda and bassist Dick Diamonde were from the Netherlands. In the first picture of The Easybeats in Ove's video, George Young is on the far right and Harry Vanda is the blonde haired one at the back: I pick these two out because they were not only famous as being founders of The Easybeats but went on to become very famous after The Easybeats folded up in 1969. Harry and George ran an internationally successful music recording studio. George Young was the founder of ACDC. His brothers Malcolm and Angus Young were the most important players in ACDC and still are. Isn't it amazing how such and early history (The Easybeats 1964) still continues to this very day in the form of ACDC !!
