Thankyou Dave , Peter and Paul for your comments, Paul your description of the Meazzi is spot on, it really sings, its such a very natural sound, Dave you hear the reverb quality i mentioned, its wonderful to have it, i feel very lucky to own it as was searching for 30 years, its hard to believe this wonderful machine was sat dorment for so many years and yet sounds so good being its so early, being a 1959 model, The engineers at SEP really knew what they wanted from these units and achieved their goal, and its great to bring her back to life, it hardly worked at all when i got it, nothing had ever been changed etc, but was not to bad in sorting it out, its funny in a way as the model j appeared to be the least significant machine where the shadows recordings were concerned, it being mainly associated with the early Cliff recordings and being seen used for live performances due to the better mechanism than was had by the F, but this machine has the right echoes for shadows recordings and at the right speeds, save a couple, it is two speed , on the variable speed Vox model 2 Hank used either fast or slow speed so no difference there, and although its an echomatic 1 circuit, it is slightly different in that it also has model 2 circuit characteristics, it appears a transitional model from the F to the 2, so the best of both worlds really, it has proved a little finicky to set it up and get to run right, and i feel will continue to come good with useage,
When is poss will do some decent recordings , as well as live gigs, it has to be heard live, something most people ( including myself ) missed the first time around my strat i am going to use in the band is being restored at the moment so not to long hopefully,
Phil,
