Make you feel my Love. (Video)

Postby Phil McGarrick » 25 Oct 2011, 16:47

The original song was written and recorded by Bob Dylan in 1997.

It’s been performed by several other artist including, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Bryan Ferry
and probably the most popular - Adele in 2008

My version is based on Adele’s great recording.

My usual setup – Alan Brason strat, Kinman HX pickups, Alesis Q2 patch 0-36, M-Audio delta 1010,
Cubase SX 5.

Hope you like my instrumental arrangement.

Hi Phil - a lovely instrumental version of a ballad played with feeling.

When you've used your Brason Strat before, the pickups sound like Kinmans (which of course they are!) but here with this recording they sound more like a single coil Fender if you know what I mean.

Hi Phil
A Beauty!
I've had this in my Rep for a year now and played it at the family Christmas Party (nothing like a captive audience!)for my sister who just loves the tune. I was horrified last year when Rebecca Ferguson (lost without trace) murdered this tune on X Factor or You Havent Got Talent - or whatever it was. Mind you, the Arranger needed shooting for making such a mess of the backing.
Lovely playing and sound, Phil. You always seem to have a really clean, new string twang to your Brason. SMoothly played - methinks you like the song and the sentiment too.
Excellent.
cheers

Thank s Roger and Ian for your nice comments.

Roger - The only differences in recording was I had the Alesis I/P & O/P levels higher than before and turned the volume down in cubase. The other thing was I used a bran new plectrum which makes it sound different (brighter) to a well worn one.

Ian - Didn't know you played this one - I couldn't see it on your web site.
Love to hear your version at some point.
Yes I think the X Factor revived the song last year albeit not a great version.
I just love Adele's version and had to give it a go.

All the best.. Phil

Agree with all said above - really lovely playing - effortless...as we have all come to expect

And the shirt....

Are you perched on the back of the sofa?? A bit precarious??!!

Best always,

Tony.
