Hi Ian and Brian
Ian: I'll remember that acronym :)
Brian: Thanks for your encouragement. I love the Zoom and Charlie's patches so was mainly posting to show the new tone. Unfortunately that's about the best I can do with Wonderful Land at the moment (well maybe a fraction better) as I've had to re-learn it in a different position and am finding it hard to jump from the muted bit and grab the tremolo bar (or in fact hit the note) :) I played it better a few months ago in the old position but wasn't attempting palm muting then. Now I'm at that stage of trying to play things 'properly' and this means about 9 times out of 10 starting from scratch again - but that's ok - as it all helps. I'm also doing a bit of chord practice on the acoustic to try to improve but still can't do barre chords. Anyway there's plenty to keep me going and any little improvement makes it all worth while. :)
best wishes

I really love Charlie's patches! Here's a new recording of Apache (lots of mistakes and I'm trying to learn that slide at the beginning like Michael suggested so it's very shaky) but I'm so happy with the tone now.

G'day Rosemary,

You're getting some nice tones there.

Try keeping the trem arm loosely crooked in your pinkie (i.e. don't drop it). Wrap some plumbing tape around the trem mounting thread to tighten it up so that it doesn't fall away so easily.

Dave

Thanks Dave
Picking up the trem bar is one of my biggest problems but will look into the plumbing tape or other solution. I could tighten it more but for some reason it restricts my hand movement when I do that. It's a huge problem for me with 'Wonderful Land' as I can barely get my fingers on the right notes after the muted bit 1st time round and trying to grab the tremolo bar as well is almost impossible (although I can almost do it 2nd time round as my hand doesn't need to travel as far).
I love the new tones and will post a few more to show how much better the tone is. Now if I can just get my playing up to a standard to match I'll be very happy. :)
Best wishes
