I did know about Hans before, but this superb performance is an enhanced version of the original.

Yes, it's very close to the original (Santo & Johnny) version, which I agree must be, as Noel notes, the definitive interpretation. I love the Shadows version, of course, and the Ventures cover is not bad either.

In 1968, S&J played the tune again, in more polished terms than their original cut.
