Thanks for all the comments guys. I woke up to a barrage of honest responses this morning (On the other side of the world in Sydney)
which is great.
My thoughts at present are maybe the trick would be to have a SEPARATE voluntary list of private emails to which people can all
be part of, on the basis that:

1. A critique/response IS required and expected, and
2. It is understood and accepted that what one honestly feels about a recording/video is going to be forthcoming, warts and all. No holds bar.
In other words I actually much prefer to hear someone tell me something I might have written is terrible rather than "I enjoyed that Bob".
Very often what happens is someone's frank critique awakens a little nagging doubt in my mind about some part of a song. It can verify
what you've been thinking all along.

This idea of a bank of private emails is not to replace the current Sound Files on the site. The thread can also go up on the site as well, and should do.
But now you will have the responses and feedback you need from the email bank, and non feedback from the site won't actually be an issue any more.

When I joined the "original" ShadowMusic 16-17 years ago, everything was new. Internet was fairly new, this community was brand new, and we were all making new friends from all over the world, new echo machines just came out, people were forming new Shadows bands, New Shadows clubs and there was the first Shadowmania. Great excitement! We were all excited and about 17 years younger too ;)
I remember we had Apache competition where everyone submitted their own version of Apache, some are good and some are not so good but no one got offended. Soundfiles were new things back then, being able to share them on the internet excites everyone which leads people to comment and ask questions. Not anymore now, we are 17 years older and a little bit crankier these days

I guess, you just keep sharing your soundfiles or videos for your own excitement and pleasure. Comments and feedbacks are bonus.

Having said that (I have said this before), I am personally always grateful of the existence of this site for its wealth of information and knowledge, and most importantly making friends all around the world. The man who made all this possible is David Martin without whom this site never exist! Thanks David!

I am not the greatest writer in the world but I hope it makes sense.

Regards,
Robby

P.S: I still play Apache everyday, just like the record if anyone wants to hear it

You are very kind Robby, and I'm glad that this community has given so many people so much pleasure. And, I suspect your analysis is right.

As for me, I still get onto YouTube every now and then and play the clips of The Shadows on Crackerjack, and experience the same thrill I did way back then. And then I plug in my Fiesta Red Strat with rosewood board, the H&C Echo and my Vox Heritage AC15 HWTV, and get the same thrill that I can make that music to my own satisfaction - no comments required!

Hi Fred,

Hope you don't get too discouraged Fred. At least on the thread here you were able to vent how you feel, that can't be a bad thing.
You contribute all those videos too which I'm sure all of us enjoy watching. Bravo to you for all efforts. Beebs
