Perhaps when conversing with our cousins in the U.S.A. one should use the term "Cigarettes". :D

Thank you, Alan - that is cute. And it was nice of you to use the word cousins and not something else, like dummies. :D

Even musical vocabulary is different over here. Most of my musical knowledge (whatever amount I might have) is from this Forum, and secondarily from my various Cliff and Shads biography and tablature books, all of which came from the UK. For example, when I was in the guitar store, I had to remember -- mid-sentence -- that in the USA we are supposed to say "pick guard" and not "scratch plate." I said something like, "Oh look...on the wall over there...there's a Fender Jaguar, a sunburst one with a tortoise shell scrrrrrr.....uh, pick guard." Another funny thing is, despite the fact that this store has a huge wall full of Fender Strats (dozens of them!), almost every colour in the rainbow, the one colour scheme you won't ever see is red-and-white. I asked about red, and they said they could probably get me one in Candy Apple Red :? so I just bought the three-tone sunburst one and named it "Jet." It's a Squier, not a real Fender any way.

Kind regards,
Donna[/quote]

I had the same problem in Canada a couple of years ago when I got my firt Squier Bullet. They had every colour except fiesta red and white scrat/pickguard on the wall. The guy said he thought there might be one in the back store somewhere, he vanished for quite some time then emerged boxed fiesta red Squier to hand. It was'nt set up in any way when I got it home and I had one hell of a job sorting it out, but it ended up a great guitar in the end after much cussing and elbow grease at first.
The second one I got was straight off the wall and it was set up fine although it was arctic white this time, same as Jeff Becks guitar, although I hasten to add, I cant make it sound or play it like Jeff's guitar :? But its fun to play nevertheless :D

. . . and don't forget "fretboard" vs. "fingerboard" :)

I thought it was fingerboard if it had no frets like violins etc and fretboard if it did.

You don't need me to tell you you're a good guitarist Eric.

I forgot to mention earlier.

Robbo and Daniel made a welcome visit to Hankies last Tuesday.
As they walked in I was playing my Gibson Acoustic.

Robbo commented to me later. "When we walked in that sounded Lovely, I thought it was Ecca playing".

Is that a compliment to me or the Pelsall Pirate? :D

Superb

Nice playing Ecca - takes guts and some great guitar work when there's no backing track or over dubbing!

When's the masterclass and how do I sign up?
