I was using a Yamaha PSR 3000 XG keyboard/synth/arranger, my trusty companion who has accompanied me in my orbital travels. Now being banked alongside a new Yamaha Motif XS7. But that's just keyboard stuff. Me mate Cliff H will be interested though. Warren's probably got himself a Fantom G8 by now.
Hi Tony,
Glad you mentioned this because I'm looking for a keyboard purely for home recording usage. I played a self contained Yamaha many moons ago that had its own speakers, sounds, rhythms etc but for making my own backing tracks or possibly just to add strings, piano etc arrangements to existing ones, I think I need a simpler controlling keyboard of some sort that can be linked to software-based sounds within my computer DAWs.
I currently use Cubase4LE and Audacity software but neither have added orchestral files within the package. BIABox seems popular but there are several alternatives, none of which I have experience of using. Maybe I don't need a keyboard at all and the software files can be adapted to suit my needs? Again I'm stumbling around in the dark a bit here.
I realise most folk here are guitarists so my apologies for going off topic somewhat but I don't know where to go, site-wise, for guidance on what's what for keyboards these days so any help here or perhaps by private mail if deemed more appropriate would be much appreciated.
I'm away for a few days and it's not an urgent request but pointers in the right direction would be most welcome if you have time.
Kind regards,
Martyn
