Live and let die. New Strat.

Postby Phil McGarrick » 28 Oct 2014, 16:00

This is my cover of Hanks “Live and let die” from the 1993 CD “Heartbeat”
Using my new Alan Brason custom built Strat bought for my son Andrew.
The song was written by Linda McCartney for the James Bond film of 1973 and made famous by Paul McCartney & Wings and Guns & Roses.

The new Strat has Kinman FV-HMS pickups and I used an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with EFTP patch 0-27.
The BT came from Ian McCutcheon’s workout 2

and Tony Clout (Tabman has produced the Tabs)

The Acoustic solo played on my 1960’s Gibson Dove which I bought nearly 50 years ago.

Video made using 3x Sony SR12 camcorders and edited in Sony Vegas pro 9.

Hope you like “Live and Let Die”

Cheers Phil

Terrific!! Great tune and expertly played.
Good to see close ups of the guitar and the fingerwork - at times didnt know which of the 4 screens to look at. :D
Andrew must be really chuffed at the guitar, visually and tonally.
Lovely job.
cheers

Hi Phil, what a lovely guitar, great sound, and the Gibson Hummingbird, wow  !! . . . and great playing, and terrific video (not so easy to make I suspect).

I enjoyed it very much!

Thank you very much Ian, Roger and Bojan for your nice replies.
Andrew is very chuffed with his new Strat - The video editing is just my fun in experimenting.. like anything it's not difficult when you learn how to do it. Lots of tutorials on YT.
The acoustic is a Gibson Dove - I've got two this 1960's & a 1990's but never did get a hummingbird - Yet another excuse.. Lol
Glad you liked the song.. Cheers Phil

Lovely stuff! That acoustic passage fitted in so well.
The new Strat is gorgeous but so too is that Dove. I did get a Hummingbird recently although only a modest Epiphone.

Thanks Mikey I'm glad you like the Strat and the Dove.
Epiphone do make some great value guitars I'm sure your Hummungbird is very good.

It's good that Gibson still make the J200, Dove & Hummingbird after all these years.
I remember going into Selmers in London when I was about 16 and seeing all 3 in a glass case and plucking up courage to ask to try them out.
